Tim J. Myers has decades of experience as a writer and storyteller for children and adults.  He won the SCBWI 2012 Magazine Merit Award for Fiction, and his Down at the Dino Wash Deluxe got great reviews from Kirkus, Booklist, and SLJGood Babies (Candlewick) and Dark-Sparkle Tea (Wordsong) also earned strong reviews--Basho and the River Stones (Cavendish) was a Junior Library Guild starred selection, got an excellent review in The New York Times, and was one of three nominees for a California Young Readers Medal--Tanuki's Gift (Cavendish) got an excellent boxed review with art in the Times and was a Nick Jr. Magazine "Best Book of 2003" and a Bank Street Irma Black Honor Book--and Basho and the Fox (Cavendish) was read on NPR, made the Times bestseller list for children's books, and was a Smithsonian Notable Children's Book.  Tim has 14 children's books out and one on the way, has placed numerous pieces in children's magazines (Cricket, Spider, Odyssey, Storyworks, AppleSeeds, Highlights), won a national poetry contest judged by John Updike, has published over 130 poems (South Carolina Review, Northeast, Rattle), and has two books of poetry for adults.  He also won a prize in the Writers of the Future Contest for science fiction/fantasy and won the Dan Howells Song of the Year Award for the Saratoga Chapter of West Coast Songwriters.  Tim was a classroom teacher for 14 years, in American and overseas schools, has 23 years of university teaching experience in education and English; he’s currently a senior lecturer at Santa Clara University, where his wife, Dr. M. Priscilla Myers, is a reading specialist.  Tim's visited many schools and other venues as a guest-author and storyteller and often tells to adults or mixed groups too.  He's also taught numerous courses and workshops and has given speeches on a variety of topics--and he writes whenever he's not talking fiction techniques with his daughter.
